Portrait

This is a portrait that I have been working on.  It is the second one that I have done for this client...she likes  the wistfulness of children...I wonder I have achieved what she is looking for.  I will be framing it up and bringing it to the mall for her next week.  We set up at Place d'Orleans for our Christmas show next week and I will be insanely busy for the next 8 weeks!

Newest aceo

Check out this amazing treasury that a fantastic photgrapher made up for etsy. http://www.etsy.com/treasury/MTExNDI1NDN8MjcyMzQwOTU5Ng/moon-and-stars?ref=pr_treasury It is full of some very inspirational artists.  I love it!!  Also, check out my facebook  page http://www.facebook.com/StudioFerguson?ref=hl  for my newest ACEO paintings.  They will be going up for sale in my etsy shop soon.

Almost There

What a crazy 2 months I have just lived through.    Renovations are almost complete. I have some painting still to do, the washroom needs a bit of work, oh and the stairs...the dreaded stairs. Then comes the cleaning and organizing...that will take a bit of time I'm sure.  I have managed to squeeze in some aceo sketches whenever I have a bit of spare time..which isn't that often.  Now if I could only find my paints!!  I am hoping that things will be back to normal with in the next month or so.  Then we set up our display at Place d'Orleans and work 80 hr. work weeks for the Christmas season.  I can't wait until January arrives.

Renovations

It has been quite a busy time for me in the last month or so...unfortunately the busyness is not with my art work but with my life.  We have decided  that city life is just not for us any more...noisy neighbours, barking dogs, smelly traffic.....  we are happily dreaming of a house in the country...maybe by a lake or in a forest.   But in order to sell our house quickly and for as much money as possible, we must renovate.  That is what is taking up most of my time.  New kitchen, new floors, patching up holes and dents in walls, painting, fixing old and tired parts of house, etc... We are also checking out some houses that we are interested in...which is very time consuming as well.  Some days I feel like we drive for hours looking at houses.  Most of them are not what I want...some are close.  So right now almost all of my art making has been put on hold.  I do manage to squeeze in a bit in here and there, a sketch or two, a splash of paint, but it may be awhile before I can focus on my art again.  I miss it already.

Portrait Preview

I've been working on a portrait the last week for a client that has commissioned quite a few portraits from me.

I start out with a pretty light touch making sure everything is in the right spot.

I keep adding more graphite to darken up the image.

Almost there....
At this point I sent an image to the client.  She requested a few minor changes.

I changed a few things and added some nice darks.
She was quite happy with the finished product.

Hello and Welcome to my Blog

I plan on mainly posting about my artwork here so that my clients can watch their portraits come to life.  I might also add in interesting things about my life.  I might write about my dog or my travels, I might even write about the corn I am growing in the mini garden in my back yard....I am not quite sure what I am doing yet.  There are no hard and fast rules so I am excited to see how this blog develops.  You are welcome to join me on this journey and feel free to leave a comment!!
